Winter doses now available for everyone aged 30 and over

Thursday, 21 July 2022

Australia’s top immunisation experts (ATAGI) have updated their recommendations for COVID-19 fourth (winter) doses.

As COVID cases rise, we encourage the community to take steps to protect themselves and minimise the potential spread of COVID; including keeping up-to-date with vaccination, staying home when unwell and testing and wearing a good quality mask when social distancing is not feasible.

Keeping up-to-date with your COVID vaccination is one of the best ways you can protect yourself against severe illness or hospitalisation from COVID-19.

People aged 50 and over are now recommended to have a fourth dose, while people aged 30 to 49 can receive one if they choose.

ATAGI continues to recommend people at higher risk of severe disease get a fourth dose.

Barwon Health’s Vaccination Centre in Belmont is experiencing strong demand for fourth doses since the updated advice and eligibility was announced.

Winter dose interval:

ATAGI has also reduced the interval between your booster and fourth dose to 3 months. If you’ve had COVID-19, you should get your next dose 3 months after your infection.

Eligible people who haven’t already received their fourth dose are strongly encouraged to have it as soon as they are due.

You can access a fourth dose at your local GP or pharmacy or book here at Barwon Health’s Vaccination Centre in Belmont.

If you need help making a COVID-19 vaccine booking, SMS ‘Hey EVA’ to 0481 611 382. A trained call agent from the National Coronavirus Helpline will call you to help book your COVID-19 vaccination.
