Recently the Barwon South West Public Health Unit hosted the eighth regional forum in Camperdown, on Djargurd Wurrung country.
The event began with a Welcome to Country from Eastern Maar man Brett Clarke, whose powerful words and musical performance set a reflective and inspiring tone for the day.
The forum brought together partners and stakeholders from across the Barwon South West to collaborate, share insights, and explore opportunities to build more active, liveable communities across the region.
Those who attended had the opportunity to come together and hear from keynote speaker, Professor Anna Peeters AM, CEO of VicHealth, who provided a compelling overview of VicHealth’s strategic direction and its focus on driving system‑level change to make active living more accessible for all.
Professor Peeters was joined by representatives from Barwon Health and Glenelg Shire, who shared practical perspectives and local initiatives supporting active living in regional communities.
For those unable to attend, the presentations from the day are available below:
- Dr Naomi Clarke – Active living and physical activity in the BSW ‘The regional story’
- Maddi Cram Lynda Smith – How walkable is the Glenelg Shire
