Former Ford site transformed into vaccine hub

Thursday, 01 April 2021

FORD’S former home at Norlane has transformed from the centre of Australia’s motor industry into the community vaccination hub that will service the majority of the Geelong and Surf Coast region.

Managed and operated by Barwon Health, Geelong’s community vaccination hub has the capacity to provide COVID-19 vaccines to more than 10,000 people a week.

High-risk priority groups from the 1a and 1b cohorts have been receiving their vaccination at the site since 6 April, in line with the Commonwealth prioritisation.

From 3 May, people over the age of 50 were also able to receive their vaccination at the hub.

Vaccination hubs are also currently operating at Albury Wodonga Health, Austin Health, Ballarat Health Services, Bendigo Health, Goulburn Valley Health, Latrobe Regional Hospital, Monash Health (in partnership with Alfred Health) and Western Health.
