Taking COVID-19 vaccination to the shoppers

Friday, 29 October 2021

The Barwon Health South West Public Health Unit (BSWPHU) in partnership with Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative recently hosted a vaccination pop-up clinic at Corio Village Shopping Centre to help improve access to COVID-19 vaccinations.

Duane Luki from Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative said the convenience of the clinic improved access for those in the community who were yet to receive a vaccination.
“The pop-up clinic made it easier for our community members who weren’t able to get to a vaccination appointment to walk-in to the Corio Village and have easy access. Our team members were there to provide support,” he said.

Barwon Health’s Vaccination Operations Manager Deb Kay said the clinic supported the local community to get vaccinated and improved the area’s vaccination rates.

“We chose Corio Village as the location for the clinic as we hoped it would mean people who were yet to receive a vaccination could easily access a walk-in vaccination in between doing their shopping,” she said.
