With the current COVID wave, plan ahead this festive season so that you can safely enjoy the festivities.

There are many things you can do to prepare to ensure you and your family remain safe during the festive period:

– Speak to your GP about your COVID plan. With many GPs reducing hours over public holidays, speak to your GP today to develop a plan should you become unwell with COVID. If you are at a high risk of severe disease, discuss with your GP ways you can access antivirals medications during the key festive dates.
– Celebrate outdoors where possible. Ensuring good ventilation and having large gatherings outdoors can help reduce risk of passing COVID onto loved ones.
– Ensure you are up-to-date with your vaccinations. Being up-to-date with your vaccinations not only helps minimise your chance of catching COVID, it also helps reduce the chances of passing COVID onto anyone vulnerable in your family.
– Stay home if unwell. Prevention is the best protection against passing on illness to others. If you are feeling unwell, stay home to avoid spreading the virus. If you test positive, isolate for 5 days and until you have no symptoms.
– Have stock of rapid antigen tests at home. With public holidays reducing the hours of pharmacies and testing sites, having a RAT at home means you are able to test prior to attending Christmas events or getting tested, should you have symptoms. For current testing information click here.
